Apple released a new application for the Macintosh this week. GarageBand is a new musical tool that "turns your Mac into an anytime, anywhere recording studio packed with hundreds of instruments and a recording engineer or two for good measure."
Once you are done with your creation, you can export to iTunes and place it straight on your Apple iPod.

GarageBand comes with all new Macs, and is also bundled with iLife for $49. It will become available on January 16th at your local Apple Stores.
